The Supreme Court President, Dr Willy Mutunga,
on Saturday made a historical pronouncement that made President Uhuru Kenyatta the
next tenant of State House for the next five years.
In a 5 minute ruling, Mutunga said the just concluded
elections were indeed conducted in compliance with the Constitution and the
law.
“Uhuru and his running mate William Ruto were validly
elected,” Mutunga said in an announcement that left Raila Odinga’s supporters
baffled.
Uhuru will now take up the leadership baton from President
Mwai Kibaki, who is retiring on April 9th.
President Uhuru will be sworn on April 9 at Kasarani
International Stadium
Prime Minister Raila Odinga is expected to retire to his
home in Bondo after being trounced by Uhuru in the just concluded elections.
Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka who was Raila Odinga’s
running mate in the last poll, is expected to return to legal practice after
President Kibaki’s retires on April 9.
